The San Francisco 49ers announced their 2013 preseason schedule as they will face off against two postseason squads from a year ago.

The 49ers open their preseason at home in Week 1 against the Denver Broncos before traveling to Kansas City in Week 2.

The Niners’ matchup against the Broncos will mark the 35th preseason meeting as Denver holds an 18-16 edge over San Francisco. During last year’s preseason matchup in Denver, the 49ers defeated the Broncos, 29-24.

This will mark Denver’s first preseason trip to Candlestick Park since 2009 when the 49ers edged the Broncos 17-16.

The 49ers and Chiefs met nine times in the preseason, with San Francisco leading the all-time series 6-3. San Francisco has won the past two preseason contests. In the last meeting, during the 2003 preseason, the 49ers defeated the Chiefs in Kansas City, 24-6.

The team will then return home to face the Minnesota Vikings on August 25th for a nationally televised game on NBC at 5 p.m. PT. The preseason finale will be played on August 29th when the team travels to San Diego to face the Chargers.

The contest between the 49ers and Vikings will be their eighth meeting in the preseason.  The 49ers lead the all-time preseason series 4-3 and are 2-0 against the Vikings at home during the preseason.

The 49ers won the past two contests against the Vikings, which were both played at Candlestick Park, a 17-6 win last season and a 15-10 victory in 2010.

The Bay Area rivalry between the Niners and Chargers has been taken place for the past 27 years for preseason play. The 2012 NFC champion leads the all-time preseason series 21-20 after the 49ers won, 35-3, at Candlestick Park last preseason. However, the Chargers hold a 16-8 winning record at home against the 49ers during this preseason series.

Times for these games are yet to be determined and will be released at a later date.
