Jerome Cunningham continues to pursue his destiny of a NFL career through the vehicle of the NFL Regional Combine, and the New Orleans Saints works to explore the untapped talent from the shield’s annual workouts. They both met this week as the Saints invited the 6-3, 250-pound tight end to their rookie mini-camp.

Cunningham was invited to participate in the NFL Super Regional Combine in Detroit at Ford Field in early April. Cunningham displayed good speed and footwork at the Combine, which was good enough for the Saints to invite him to their mini-camp.

Last year, the Southern Connecticut State University standout registered for the NFL Regional Combine in Baltimore and after a great workout, he was invited to the NFL Super Regional Combine in Dallas at AT&T Stadium. After a successful workout in Dallas, Cunningham earned an invite to the Indianapolis Colts mini-camp.

Unfortunately, Cunningham was not able to continue his quest for a NFL career last season like linebacker Josh McNary, who also signed with the Colts in 2013 after participating in the NFL Super Regional Combine, but he will have a solid opportunity as he will start off fresh with a high-powered offensive unit in the Saints.

The Saints also invited wide receiver Brandan Green from Grand Valley State to rookie mini-camp. He also participate in the NFL Super Regional Combine last month.
