Washington D.C. – The Washington Wizards goes big with their first pick as they selected forward Jan Vesely from the Czech Republic.
Vesely is a solid shooter that can hit the three ball, standing at 6-11, 240 lbs. who can run the floor in transition and is athletic with great upside. However, in the physical Eastern Conference, will Vesely be willing to bang against the big bodies in the NBA night in and night out?
Other than Vesely’s ability to shoot the ball, his game is similar to the likes of center Javale McGee and forward Andray Blatche, players who not as committed to playing in the paint, but can run the floor.
Vesely comes from an athletic family where his father, Jan, is a former basketball player and his mother is a former volleyball player. His girlfriend, Eva who Vesely kissed down when his name was called in the draft, studies architecture and plays basketball as well, along with Vesely’s younger sister.
