The NFL Draft has come and gone and now, teams are looking to fill their rosters with young prospects full of potential to make waves and crack the depth chart. Of those players is Grand Valley State’s Brandan Green, a standout wide receiver from the Regional Combine in Tampa Bay, who scored an invitation to join the New Orleans Saints at their rookie minicamp next weekend.
Green was one of the under-the-radar prospects we cited last month as someone worth getting to know. An electric playmaker in the mold of Wes Welker, he lit it up this past season for GVSU with 53 receptions for 1,210 yards and six touchdowns. He also rushed 24 times for 267 yards and three scores.
Knocked for being undersized at 5-foot-10, 180 pounds, Green found a way to overcome what he calls a challenge—not a disadvantage—with great speed and dependable hands. If Green can live up to his own comparison of Patriots wideout Julian Edelman, he could stick on the Saints roster. They run an efficient, high-powered offense in New Orleans which could play into Green’s favor because of his unique skill set.
