The Buffalo Bills announced Wednesday their 2012 preseason schedule and they will welcome the Washington Redskins and Pittsburgh Steelers at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Weeks 1 and 3. Most notably, one of the premier rookie quarterbacks in Andrew Luck of Stanford or Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III of Baylor will get their first taste of the NFL when the burgundy and gold comes to town.
The Bills will open their preseason at home against the Redskins. The Redskins hold the second overall pick for the 2012 NFL Draft, in which either Luck or Griffin III will be available after the Indianapolis Colts make their selection with the first overall pick, as both teams need a franchise signal caller. This mark be the first time since 2010 that the Bills and the Redskins will meet for the preseason – their 14th gathering of all-time. Washington’s last trip to Buffalo was in 1998 where they met during preseason play.
Buffalo will hit the road to Minnesota in Week 2 to face the Vikings. The Bills and Vikings will meet for the 10th time in preseason history, their first since 2002. The last time the Bills took on the Vikings on the road for the preseason was in 1996.
The Bills return home the following week with their beloved tailgaters and get down with the Steelers for Week 3. The Bills and the Steelers have met in eight previous preseason contests, most recently in 2009.
The Bills will close out its 2012 exhibition at Detroit where they will take on the high-powered Lions. This Week 4 get together between the Bills and Lions will mark their 32nd preseason meeting of all time, their 11th straight.
